How do credits work?

Credits are the shared currency for every AI generation on TubeAI — scripts, thumbnails, viral ideas, reports, and messages to Hugo all draw from your credit balance.

Two pools of credits

Your balance is made up of two pools that behave differently:

• Plan credits — the monthly allowance that comes with your subscription. They reset to the full amount at the start of every billing period. Unused plan credits do not roll over.
• Top-up credits — credits you buy separately. These never expire while your account is active and are never reset by a renewal.

When you generate something, plan credits are spent first. Only once those run out does spending draw from your top-up credits — so a purchased credit never disappears just because your plan renewed.

• Thumbnail (standard): 4 credits each
• Thumbnail Magic Edit: 5 credits
• Titles & description (set of 10 titles): 10 credits
• Script (standard research): 25 credits
• Video analytics report: 15 credits
• Audience engagement report: free
• Viral video ideas: 50 credits
• Channel audit: 200 credits
• Board auto-ideate: 5 credits
• Message to Hugo: 3 credits (research lookups Hugo runs add 2 credits each)

Some premium modes cost more — for example Thumbnail Pro Mode adds 40 credits per thumbnail, and the Enterprise-only Deep Research script is 1,000 credits. The exact cost is always shown before you generate.

Failed generations are refunded

If a generation fails, the credits are refunded automatically to the pool they were taken from. You never pay for a run that didn't deliver.

Buying more credits

On any paid plan, go to Settings, then Credits, to buy a top-up: 500 credits for $25, 1,000 for $50, or a custom amount at $0.05 per credit. Top-ups land in your permanent pool immediately and are usable right away.

Tracking your spending

Settings, then Transactions, shows a full ledger of every credit movement — purchases, monthly grants, spending, and refunds — so you can always see exactly where your credits went.
