How do I run a Channel Audit?
Updated August 11, 2026
The Channel Audit is the most comprehensive single report on TubeAI — a strategist-grade review of your entire channel that tells you what's working, what to fix, and what to make next. It benchmarks you against the top channels in your niche and ends with a prioritized action plan and proof-backed video ideas.
Before you start
- You need a connected YouTube channel (any connection type works, but an analytics connection unlocks the report's "Your Analytics" section).
- Running an audit requires a Pro or Enterprise plan and 200 credits. Anyone can open the Audit tab and read a past audit, but starting a new run on Free or Basic shows an upgrade prompt.
Running an audit
- Open your Dashboard and select the Audit tab.
- Click Run Channel Audit. The credit cost is shown on the button.
- Walk away. A full run takes roughly 5 to 15 minutes, keeps running in the background even if you close the tab, and shows a live checklist of steps as it works.
The audit automatically syncs your video library first if it's stale, and waits for the free background jobs (Content Buckets and Title Psychology) so the report reflects your latest data — you don't need to prepare anything.
What's in the report
- Summary and Action Plan — a prioritized list of what to do next and why
- Things We Do Well / Areas of Improvement — evidence-backed strengths and weak spots
- Content Buckets — which of your topic groups actually perform
- Thumbnail Style Codes — the recurring visual styles across your recent thumbnails
- Ideal Length — which video duration wins for your channel, across several time windows
- Hooks & Production — insights from AI that watches up to 10 of your recent long-form uploads
- Viral Vectors and Title Formats — proven title words and templates in your niche you use, and the ones you're missing
- Cross-Niche Winning Formats and Market Overview — what's working in your niche and beyond right now
- Your Analytics — charts from your own YouTube Analytics (fills in only for channels connected through the official YouTube login)
- Video Ideas — up to a dozen ideas, each backed by real competitor videos as proof
Credits, refunds, and re-runs
An audit costs 200 credits, charged up front. If the whole run fails to produce a report, the credits are refunded automatically. If a run succeeds but one or two optional sections couldn't complete, the report still delivers with a footnote listing what was skipped — that's normal on large channels and isn't refunded; simply re-run to fill the gaps.
Re-running costs the same 200 credits each time, and every past run is kept in the History menu on the Audit tab. Only one audit can run per channel at a time — starting a second while one is in progress re-attaches to the running one rather than charging again.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Channel Audit cost?
200 credits per run, charged up front. If the entire run fails to produce a report, the credits are refunded automatically. Re-runs cost the same 200 credits.
Which plans can run an audit?
Pro and Enterprise. Free and Basic users can open the Audit tab and read a past audit, but starting a new run requires an upgrade.
How long does it take?
Roughly 5 to 15 minutes. The audit keeps running in the background if you leave the page or close the tab, and shows a live checklist of steps while it works.
Why is a section missing from my report?
If a single step fails during a run, only that section is left out and a footnote lists what was skipped — the rest of the report still delivers. Re-running the audit usually fills the gap. A partial report is not refunded; only a complete failure is.
Why is the Your Analytics section empty?
That section only fills in for channels connected through the official YouTube login (the analytics connection). Manually added channels see a prompt to connect analytics instead.
