How do I connect my YouTube channel?

Connecting your YouTube channel is how TubeAI knows which channel is "yours." Once connected, every tool — scripts, titles, thumbnails, viral ideas, the Dashboard — can pre-fill your channel and tailor its output to your content. There are two levels of connection.
Basic connection (handle only)
The fast option, available on every plan including Free. You enter your channel's @handle and TubeAI confirms the channel exists. No Google login, no permissions granted.
- Open the Dashboard (or any tool asking for your channel).
- Enter your @handle or search for your channel.
- Confirm — your channel is now pre-filled across the platform.
A basic connection unlocks the Dashboard video list, performance chart, Content Buckets, and Title Psychology. It does not include your official YouTube Analytics data.
Analytics connection (Google sign-in)
The deeper option, available on Pro and Enterprise plans. You sign in with Google and grant TubeAI read-only access to your channel and YouTube Analytics.
This unlocks:
- Audience demographics, traffic sources, and watch-time data on your Dashboard
- Retention curves in video analysis reports
- The My Audience tab with its demographic breakdown
- Richer results in the Channel Audit
- Hugo's ability to answer questions using your real channel analytics
The connection stays active until you revoke it on Google's side — no need to reconnect. You can upgrade a basic connection to an analytics connection at any time without losing anything.
Is it safe?
Yes. TubeAI only ever requests read access: view your channel, view your analytics, and basic profile. It can never post, upload, edit videos, or see your earnings.
How many channels can I connect?
- Free and Basic: one channel (basic connection)
- Pro and Enterprise: multiple channels, switchable from the sidebar, plus the analytics connection
Frequently Asked Questions
Does TubeAI post to my channel?
Never. The connection is strictly read-only — TubeAI can see your videos and analytics, but can never post, upload, edit, or view your earnings.
My channel is brand new with few videos. Can I still connect it?
Yes. Channels with very few or even no public videos can be connected — the on-screen note about having 3-5 videos is guidance, not a requirement.
Does connecting a channel cost credits?
No. Connecting a channel — basic or analytics — is completely free and never uses credits.
I connected by handle. Do I have to start over to get analytics?
No. A basic connection can be upgraded to an analytics connection later — it stays the same channel, just with deeper access added.
