Chris Petri is a watercolor artist, author, and instructor whose lifelong involvement with art began in an artistic family and developed into a professional practice centered on watercolor painting and education. Introduced to drawing and watercolor at an early age, he developed a lasting appreciation for expressive, direct painting and the unique qualities of the watercolor medium. His artistic development was further shaped through study with nationally recognized watercolor artists, including Charles Reid and Mel Stabin. His approach emphasizes confident brushwork, expressive washes, tonal value, simplification, and a loose, spontaneous interpretation of the subject. In addition to producing original paintings, Chris has devoted a significant part of his career to watercolor education through workshops, demonstrations, instructional writing, and online video instruction.
