About

Welcome to The Last Homely House. I’m Kate, and I make colourful things in my cottage in rural Northumberland. Here you’ll find quilting, English paper piecing, slow stitching, spinning, weaving, cooking, stories and quiet days in my cabin. This isn’t a channel about doing everything perfectly. It is about being curious, using what we have, learning as we go and getting out of our heads and into our hands. The name The Last Homely House comes from Tolkien’s Rivendell—a place of welcome, rest, storytelling and good company. That is what I hope this channel can be for you. Our imaginary Lime Green Sofa stretches right around the world, and there is always room for one more person. So put the kettle on, bring whatever you are making and come and sit with us. And when you would like to step outside, you can join me in The Last Homely Garden, where I share my cabin, wildlife pond, treehouse, changing seasons and life in this beautiful and unruly Northumberland garden.
